ARTIST STATEMENT
As a visual artist based in New England, I am inspired by the beauty of the natural world. My passion for creating art stems from a desire to capture and convey the magic of the natural world, evoking echoes of long-loved stories. My artistic style is deeply influenced by the myths and legends of many cultures. Just as we have used stories through the ages to understand the natural world, explore human nature, and comment on the power structures and rules in our societies. I paint to express these same motivations. I seek to capture the terror and the beauty of the stories we share and delve into our relationship with nature and human emotion and connection. I paint in a variety of mediums, including watercolor, acrylic, and oil. I strive to create a sense of depth, texture, and movement in my works. I love the way that watercolor paint can blend and bleed, creating unexpected fluidity and movement, while acrylic and oil allow me to build layer upon layer of meaning. I am continually exploring new ways to grow within my artistic practice, and I strive to capture the stories that deserve to be heard and told and share them with others through my art.
